DHS Informatisering together with Scense has a recipe for successful VMware View implementations
DHS Informatisering, a leading IT services provider of virtualization infrastructure solutions and Scense, the technology leader in Workspace Management solutions have partnered to successfully market and implement VMware View solutions. This partnership has already resulted in big wins for the companies in 2011 including government organizations and enterprises. Amongst these customers are multiple governmental municipalities including the safety house of the ’s-Hertogenbosch region, the ‘s-Hertogenbosch City Library, the National Maritime Museum as well as the construction firm Van der Heijden. The projects represented a wide range of legacy environments including a mix of TS\Citrix and physical desktops. All environments were successfully migrated to flexible, manageable and reliable VMware View and Scense environments, some including Ultra-Thin Client monitors from Samsung and/or LG.
Sander van der Post, Sales Manager within DHS explains: “Our customers all understand the benefits of a VMware View environment with floating desktops. They want to be able to offer their end users the ability to access functional and personal desktops from any location in a reliable and safe manner. We are known as one off the IT partners offering the knowledge and the solutions to implement such an environment successfully. We used Scense Workspace Management in our VMware View offerings, to complement the benefits of desktop virtualization environments.”
“Our customers need personal desktops”, van der Post continues. “In the past this could only be offered by using persistent desktops, resulting in huge storage costs and management nightmares”. “Today we use Scense Workspace Management to transform non persistent desktops into functional, personalized floating desktops. We are now able to offer the best user experience to our customers in combination with low storage requirements and low complexity. And because Scense reaches outside the virtual desktop environment, we are able to offer this experience with all devices: virtual and physical, even on an employee owned laptop or home-pc”
Anne Klop, IT manager within the library of the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch explains: “We expected a challenging migration because of the fact that we needed to support a mixed environment with virtual and physical desktops and had limited resources and storage available for this purpose. Next to that, we needed a solution to replace Novell Zenworks. DHS and Scense have shown to be able to successfully address all these challenges. Today, we are able to offer our end users a functional and personal desktop on both virtual and physical clients. With Scense, even the toughest applications are now delivered and configured with ease. We don’t have a very large IT staff available, but are still able to manage our desktop and application environment smoothly.”
Willem van Enter, regional Director Benelux within VMware, adds: "VMware is dedicated to simplify IT manageability and control, while providing a high fidelity desktop virtualization experience. Through our collaboration with partners like DHS and Scense, who contribute with specific experience and knowledge, customers are able to benefit fully from flexible, manageable and reliable VMware View environments."

About Scense
Scense is the technology leader in Next Generation Workspace Management delivering dynamic applications in a personalized workspace to hundreds of thousands satisfied users worldwide. By keeping the end user workspace and applications independent of the underlying operating system, Scense transforms expensive, mixed and distributed desktop environments into cost-effective, manageable and transparent infrastructures. With Scense, end-users are empowered, but ultimate control remains firmly in the hands of the CIO.

Scense, the fastest growing provider of User Workspace Management software, has appointed Marcel Mayer (46) as Director Channel Sales. Mayer worked at Tech Data Azlan (the former CDG Europe BV), a company which has shown impressive growth figures over the last ten years. Mayer was employed since 2000 at CDG as Corporate Account Manager, PreSales Consultant and Sales Manager. As PreSales Consultant he was leading the Application Virtualisation of Softricity in the Benelux (known since 2006 as the App-V solution of Microsoft). Before CDG he was ten year active in the reseller channel as Account Manager. Mayer booked successes both in the reseller channel and with a distributor. “I therefore know what the requirements are from the end-user and I am familiar with the wishes of resellers. My preference is to position innovative software in the ICT market,” says Mayer.
“Most businesses have not yet migrated to Windows 7. It is expected though that almost all companies and enterprises will deploy it in 2011 and 2012,” says Hessel Wellema, VP Product Management of Scense. “The decision is forced by hardware refresh cycles, new end user management functionality or compatibility issues. Besides, Microsoft will stop the support of Windows XP in 2014. Research from Gartner shows that migrating to Windows 7 is a costly process because of many manual tasks that have to be carried out. On top of this there is hardly any room for errors or productivity loss. IT therefore has to look for new ways to address all the issues.”
ITHEC ICT and Scense announce today that they jointly will enter the market. ITHEC ICT is a well-known player in the area of virtualization and storage and Scense is the fastest growing provider of Workspace Management Software. The background of the co-operation is that ICT service customers are becoming increasingly critical about the quality and the added value of products and services. ITHEC ICT delivered added value during the last decade by implementing high quality innovative technological solutions.
Scense, the fastest growing provider of Workspace Management Software, is entering the UK market in partnership with UK distributor TDIST. Together with its resellers, TDIST is promoting the benefits of virtualization to help cut IT costs. Stewart Constantine, Sales Director at TDIST, says about the partnership: “Scense is the only User Workspace Management vendor which is offering end-users the chance to use their own computer on their school’s or company’s networks. I like the flexibility of their solutions and the fact that there is no need to individually license all users. The IT manager keeps control over who gets access to which applications, while at the same time empowering the end-users.” TDIST sees opportunities for the Scense solutions in the UK market place and is closely cooperating with resellers targeting the education market. “There are many possible customers for the software, especially in the VM space,” adds Constantine.
