Scense en DHS Informatisering sluiten reseller overeenkomst

Als één van de grootste en belangrijkste spelers op de Nederlandse VDI-markt, zoekt DHS Informatisering altijd naar mogelijkheden om de producten en diensten verder te completeren. Mede vanuit dit oogpunt is afgelopen week een overeenkomst gesloten met Scense. Met ingang van heden kan DHS Informatisering daarom voortaan alle Scense producten leveren, installeren en onderhouden.

Luc Prenen, commercieel directeur DHS vertelt: “Sinds 2008 hebben wij een zeer sterke focus op het ontwikkelen en aanbieden van het VDI-concept. Zoals bekend is de Virtual Desktop Infrastructure een tegenhanger van het Citrix concept. Naar onze mening heeft VDI zeer veel voordelen, voor zowel de ICT-afdeling van onze klanten, als de eindgebruikers zelf. Klanten zijn meestal niet genoodzaakt bestaande apparatuur, zoals desktops en tokens, te vervangen en eindgebruikers kunnen voortaan écht altijd en overal op een veilige manier bij hun applicaties en informatie. Dat is wat je wilt.”

“Kijkend naar het portfolio van DHS” zegt Luc Pennings, Senior Director Marketing & Sales bij Scense, “sluiten onze producten perfect aan. DHS verkoopt al jaren de oplossingen van Sun Microsystems en VMware. Met de komst van de Sun Ray soft- en hardware en VMware View 4.0 stijgt de behoefte en vraag naar VDI razendsnel. Aansluitend willen al deze eindgebruikers over een eigen desktop-omgeving beschikken. Scense biedt niet alleen dat voordeel voor de eindgebruiker, maar ook een nóg eenvoudiger beheer voor de ICT-afdelingen bij deze bedrijven. Beide heren zien voor 2010 en 2011 een snelgroeiende markt op VDI-gebied. De laatste jaren zijn vele serveromgevingen gevirtualiseerd, nu volgt de logische stap van de desktop-omgeving. Luc Prenen: ”Producten zoals Sun Ray en View laten zien dat er grote kostenvoordelen te behalen zijn, het dagelijkse beheer en gebruik worden met Scense nu ook nog eens verder vereenvoudigd, precies wat de mensen willen. Voor ons is dit dus een logische stap. “ Hetzelfde geldt voor Scense, vertelt Luc Pennings: “We waren op zoek naar een partij met een duidelijke focus en strategie op VDI-gebied. DHS heeft dit, daarnaast hebben ze al een heleboel ervaring met VDI, hier kunnen wij ook van leren. “

Scense 7 launched

Scense, the Netherlands’ fastest-growing provider of User Workspace Management solutions, launches Scense Release 7.

Rotterdam, March 2010. The release of Scense 7 marks another major step forward in simplifying the management and delivery of the end-user workspace within virtual and physical Windows desktop environments.

As well as a long list of product enhancements, the new release delivers support for Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit) desktop environments, integration with Microsoft’s App-V 4.6 application virtualization, integration with Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1 and a completely redesigned user interface.

Scala College finally able to deliver educational applications

Rotterdam, 1 november 2009.

During the summer holidays, Scala College implemented Scense.  

Because of good project management in combination with the easy of use of Scense User Workspace Management, the college was able to implement Scense and prepare and deliver all educational applications in a very limited amount of time.

IJsselland hospital implements App-V in combination with Scense

Rotterdam, 1 november 2009.

The IT department of IJsselland was constantly struggling with the conflicts between a never-ending stream of new medical applications or updates and the strict uptime requirements needed within a hospital environment. Implementing Microsoft Application Virtualization in combination with Scense helped the IJsselland hospital to get the best of both worlds: fast application delivery and a reliable IT environment. The 451 group about Scense

In July 2009, the 451 group presented her report on user virtualization. Scense was mentioned among the pure-play vendors in the user virtualization market.

User virtualization is one of the most promising developments within the desktop infrastructure market today. Rachel Chalmers of the 451 group is bullish on user virtualization and stresses the importance of this technique within today's (mixed) desktop environments. Among other pure-play vendors like RTO Soft, RES Software and AppSense, Scense is mentioned as a vendor of user virtualization with a twist. As an example of how organizations could benefit from user virtualization, one of Scense's customers is also mentioned: the Mondriaan College.

The Rotterdam based Wolfert van Borselen school and Scense have signed an agreement on the implementation of Scense 6.0 workspace management.

Rotterdam, June 2009. The application distribution architecture we were using, could not keep up with the challenges we face within educational institutes today. That is why we decided to select a new solution, says John van Beest, head of the IT department. “With 3000 users, 500 PC’s and multiple locations, manual installing software packages just isn't an option.
